UP 4-12-2 #9000 - Union Pacific         
The American Locomotive Company (Brooks) built all eighty-eight of these fast freight locomotives for the Union Pacific Railroad. They were three-cylinder locomotives with the third cylinder located in the center of the steam chest. The third cylinder drove an eccentric in the axel of the second pair of drivers. Donated in May of 1956, the only surviving UP 4-12-2 "Union Pacific" type locomotive is number 9000 on display at the Los Angeles County Fairplex in Pomona, CA. UP #9000 was built in September of 1936 (serial #66544). Specs - 67" drivers, impressive 220 psi boiler pressure, 27x32" high pressure cylinders & 1 27x31" low pressure cylinder, engine weight of 495,500 lb, impressive tractive effort of 96,646 lb.
